What is Climate Positive or Carbon Negative?

Definition

A carbon footprint that captures or removes more carbon than it releases.

Example used in a sentence

Microsoft recently committed to being carbon negative by 2030.

Why is this definition important?

This is the next step after carbon neutral and it’s essential to reaching the point of “Drawdown” which is when the global temperature peaks and begins to fall. To accomplish this point, there will need to be carbon negative business operations to facilitate more removal than emission of carbon.  It also should be noted that carbon negative or climate positive are a often used interchangeably, but are not referring to alternative greenhouse gasses.
